No More Secrets for Jira wants to make it easy for an admin to get started with the app, so we have provided some resources that admins can leverage.

 

Example Text to inform users about the installation of the app & the new field in their Jira issues

Hello All,

We would like to notify you about a new app that we have installed called No More Secrets for Jira. It scans Jira issues for secret data like access tokens, API keys, personal IDs, credit numbers and more. It also notifies when secrets are detected & displays secret results in the Jira issue.

Effective immediately, you will begin to see a new field in your Jira issues that will display the secrets detected. You can hover over some of the elements in order to see more details about the secret.

In addition, you will see email notifications generated by the app that are sent to the issue reporter for new issues that include secrets, the attachment author for attachment files that contain secrets and to the comment author for comments that include secrets. You should check your personal settings (Click on the Avatar > Jira Personal Settings) to ensure “Send me email notifications” is enabled and choose the email notification notifications format of preference.

We ask that when you are notified of secrets that you take action by reviewing each potential secret. Remove the secrets from the issue, and change them in the source system, if possible.

Example Text to prompt users to check their Jira email notifications settings

Hello All,

As you know, we have installed a new app called No More Secrets for Jira and in order for it to work at its best, you need to allow Jira email notifications.

We ask each of you to check your personal settings (Click on the Avatar > Jira Personal Settings) to ensure “Send me email notifications” is enabled and choose the email notification notifications format of preference.

Going forward, when a new issue is created that includes secrets, the reporter of the issue will receive an email notification.

When a new comment that includes a secrets is added to an issue, the author of the comment will receive an email notification.

Finally, when an attachment that includes secrets is added to an issue, the author of that addition will receive an email notification.
